The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning comes to Misterton in September and October as the village makes its contribution to the cancer support service provided by Macmillan. The coffee mornings are on Thursday 25th September from 10-11am in the methodist church, when there will also be a raffle. A second chance to support Macmillan is on Saturday 4th October in the Vicarage garden (in the Church Room if wet; time to be advised). Come along and help raise funds for a service that has helped local people with cancer.
The World War 1 exhibition, Lest We Forget – Misterton & West Stockwith in The Great War, will be ‘on tour’ in the two villages from mid-September through to the end of November. The dates are as follows:
Misterton Methodist Chapel, Saturday 13th September, 10am-4pm, Sunday 14th, 12noon-4pm. Misterton Library, Tuesday 16th - Tuesday 30th September (inclusive), during Library opening times.
St Mary’s Church, West Stockwith, throughout October, daily 10am-4pm, Sundays 12noon-4pm. All Saints’ Church, Misterton, throughout November, daily 10am-4pm, Sundays 12noon-4pm.
The exhibition will feature research by the local history group on those who names appear on the two villages’ war memorials as well as information on life in Edwardian Britain and artefacts and memorabilia. Visitors to the exhibition will also receive a free, 24-page booklet based on the history group’s research. It’s not too late to contribute if you have something to exhibit – contact David Seymour on 890936 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
