A NEW initiative has been launched to keep Gainsborough youngsters fit and safe throughout the summer.

Free Sports Gainsborough has been launched in association with the Young and Safe In Gainsborough organisation with West Lindsey District Council and Trent Valley Academy.

They will be offering a wide range of free coaching sessions for people aged 13 - 24 years-old every week throughout the summer until mid September.

Every Monday there will be a mixed hockey session on the astroturf at Trent Valley Academy from 6.30 - 7.30pm.

Every Wednesday The Levellings by Gainsborough College will play host to a Volley Ball session from 6 - 7.30pm and there will also be a Basket Ball session at in the Sports Hall at West Lindsey Leisure Centre from 7 - 8pm.

For free-spirited youngsters who fancy something a bit different, they are offered the opportunity to try Parkour, which is a type of free-running that trains you to overcome any obstacle within one's path by adapting one's movements to the environment. The Parkour sesssions are every Sunday in the Gym Hall at West Lindsey Leisure Centre from 4 - 6pm.

All abilities are welcome to attend these sessions.
