The guest speaker at the next meeting of the Gainsborough Macular Support Group will be from the Macular Society. Every year over 70,000 people in the UK face the shock and distress of being diagnosed with macular disease, the leading cause of blindness among older people in the western world. The support group makes sure that no one has to face it alone. “Everyone is given a cordial invitation to come to the meeting” said Michael Wragg, “You will all be made most welcome”, continued Michael, “whether you are a sufferer or someone who cares for a sufferer or just someone who wants to learn more”. First Aid Courses

The Cleveland Patient Group from Vanessa Drive, Gains-borough will be holding regular events at the surgery for the benefit of patients and the general public. General

First Aid Courses, Saturday 28th June and Saturday 27th September from 10-11.30am for a charge of £3 each. These sessions must be paid for in advance at the Cleveland Sur-gery to reserve a place. Both courses will cover Basic Life Support of CPR and instruc-tions how to give first aid for Choking and The Recovery Position. Refreshments will be available for a small charge. Royal British Legion

The next meeting of The Royal British Legion, Gainsborough and District Branch will be held on Thursday 19th June. The meeting will be at the United Services Club on Bridge Street starting at 1.30pm. The branch supports the delivery of the Legion’s welfare services and administers local membership, fundraising and remembrance activities, Branch Chairman Michael Wragg said “Membership of the legion is available to all adults not just members or ex-members of the forces and we always welcome new members,” He continued “A cordial invitation is given to everyone to come along and join in the meeting”.
