The meeting on 10th November was a time for remembrance, led by Michael Wragg. Michael introduced us to a CD of poetry, accompanied by music complementing the moving words.
We were taken through both World Wars, moving then to the recent involvement in Afghanistan. The poignant poetry, much of it familiar to the listeners, described both the realities of war and the experiences of those writers, some of whom survived, and some of whom perished. The losses and fears were there, as well as the hope that human beings will learn, and that there can be a more peaceful future: that sacrifices will not have been in vain.
To complete our time of remembrance the recording of the Reveille was played and we stood for a minute’s silence, the end of an emotional time together.
