CELEBRATIONS were enjoyed at the annual show of the Gainsborough Caged Bird Society – marking its 100-year anniversary.

Nearly 900 of our feathered friends were on display, and society secretary Dave Payne said that the event was a huge success.

“It was a brilliant day and a great way to celebrate our anniversary,” he said.

“I wasn’t in the society for the first 50 years, but the last 50 have been great.”

Dave continued: “It’s been a bit of a struggle to keep membership up but we’re looking forward to the future.”
