Busted’s performance in Nottingham was a great trip down memory lane

It was said there was more chance of pigs flying than there was of Charlie Simpson returning to Busted.

But earlier this year the unthinkable was announced and the Pigs Can Fly tour was born.

It has been 12 years since Matt Willis, James Bourne and Charlie Simpson have performed together but you wouldn’t have known that as they took to the stage at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.

Kicking off the show with their new single ‘Coming Home’ it was like they had never been away and as soon as Charlie started to sing you could see he was as happy he was back as the crowd were.

The set list was a mix of old and new with classics such as Air Hostess, What I Go To School For and Crashed The Wedding.

Part way through their set they were transported to a stage in the far end of the arena in flight cases where they performed a selection of stripped back songs. These included Meet You There which I thought was fantastic and was made all the better by the great lighting feature which was hanging above the band and the lights from everyone’s mobile phone as they swayed along. They also took this opportunity to introduce the crowd to more of their new music.

Heading back to the main stage they performed more of their classics and I was introduced to my new favourite instrument, a Keytar, played by James Bourne.

And they finished their performance with the classic Year 3000 which is a definate crowd pleaser.

The whole night was a great trip down memory lane and I am now really looking forward to what is come from Busted as I really enjoyed their new songs.
