THE Gainsborough Christmas Market Committee would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made the Sunday Christmas Charity Market such a brilliant day; to all the stallholders whose stalls looked fantastic and to all who dressed up in fancy dress; the shops that did up their windows and the staff who dressed up too, but, mostly, to the people of Gainsborough who turned out and supported the market and made the whole day worth while.
Carol Marshall, on behalf of the Christmas market

committee.

Thanks for giving

THANK you to everyone who supported the Big Book Fetch and Bits on Saturday, November 17, and the Christmas Market on Sunday, November 25.

A grand total o
f £333.46 was raised at the two events.

Extra thanks go to local businesses - Co-op, Boyes, Trimpets and Trinity Arts - for their donations and vouchers, and to Deepest Purple for their sponsorship.

Everyone above and also the market organisers are wished a very Happy Christmas and New Year - and please remember: Pets are for all year, not just for Christmas.

Brenda Green, PDSA local fundraiser for Pets in

Need of Vets.

Switch-on magical

WHAT an enchanting evening it was at the switch-on of the Christmas lights.

It was really magical and children loved the modern sparkly tree at Marshall’s Yard. They have outdone themselves, yet again.

Also, I am loving the Market Place without the hideous planters and adore the roundabout at Thorndike Way - the tractor display always makes me smile.

I love Gainsborough and have lived here all my life, so stop pulling it down you lot - love it, enjoy it, big it up.

We are moving onwards and upwards and it is about time. All we need now is a McDonalds.

Appeal to runners

NATIONAL charity Meningitis Research Foundation is calling upon the thousands of runners with a guaranteed place in the 2008 Flora London Marathon on April 13 to make the most of this amazing opportunity and run to raise vital funds for our cause.

By raising money for the Foundation they will be supporting our work in tackling meningitis and septicaemia.

These diseases still claim hundreds of lives each year and particularly affect the under-fives and teenagers.

Anyone who would like help us make a difference in the fight against these terrible diseases should contact Iain Elliott on 01454 280414 or e-mail iaine@meningitis.org for a fundraising pack.
