I HAVE read with interest your piece on the proposed changes to Gainsborough Market Place.
I cannot see anything wrong with it and to upset it and disturb the traders I think is most certainly not on.

They have already been treated as second class citizens by having their parking places taken in favour of people visiting Marshall’s Yard
.

If the planters have to be moved or there is no other good way of “wasting the money”, then I do not see why one cannot be moved each week between the Thursday and Saturday markets - or is this just too simple?

I strongly object to trying to move the centre of Gainsborough instead of good money away, why doesn’t West Lindsey District Council offer some incentive to shopkeepers to take the properties around the town centre and give more attention to the flowers, flower beds, hanging baskets etc and just generally make the town centre look better cared for. Plenty of other small towns round here do it like Brigg and Barton for instance.

My view is to make Gainsborough Town Centre the centre of town and give it love and attention without ripping it apart.

For once please let common sense prevail.
