Ban has worked wonders

I FEEL I must respond to the article in last week's Standard letters page - dog owners have rights too.
Yes, Mr Key, dog owners do have rights but they do not have the right to let their dogs foul on a public park.

As a Ropery Road resident whose property looks back onto the park, I think I am in a good position to comment on so-called responsible dog owners.

The vast majority of dog owners who once used the Levellings as a dog tray did not clean up after their animals, hence the once disgusting state at the park.

Since the ban was implemented in February the park has become a much cleaner and safer place for our children and sportsmen to play on.

The ban should stay and I, along with other mothers and fathers with young families, will fight to make sure the ban does stay.
