COMPETITIVE HOCKEY MATCH
PLAYED on Middlefield Lane ground on Saturday, a very pleasant and evenly-contested game between Gainsborough Ladies and Handel House School ended in a draw, two goals each.
The first half opened very fast, the ball travelling rapidly from goal to goal, and both sets of forwards displayed good combination with Handel House being a little superior. They were well led by Miss Hayes and crossed over leading 2-0, the second goal being a brilliant shot by Miss Hayes giving the goalkeeper no chance of saving.
During the second half the home side pressed their opponents very severely but, despite having several chances, they finished badly in the striking circle and only managed to score two goals.
