THE New Year began for the Gainsborough and District Ladies Luncheon Club with their first meeting of 2013.
January’s guest speaker was Peter Tomlinson who began his career at Oxford University and became well-known in the 70s when he invented kids’ TV programme Tiswas.
In 2001, he also founded Radio Saga and in 2005 he became director of Birmingham Childrens’ Hospital.
His talk was centred around 2007 when he was made the High Sherriff of the West Midlands.
A club spokesman said: “Relating many interesting stories to this memorable year, Peter also explained the wearing of special regalia and many other duties.”
