SPORTY kids from Parish Church Primary School say that they are ‘over the moon with their year 5 and 6 High Five netball team.

Their squad of eight children went to TVA to take part in a Schools Sports Partnership competition against five other schools.

The team, who had been trained by teachers Miss Chapman and Miss Lancaster, were ably supported by teaching assistants Mrs Petit, Mrs Davies and parent Mrs. Anderson.

A school spokesman said: “They had a fantastic afternoon and produced five brilliant wins.”

“Not only did they score lots of goals, with Sam O’Neill showing his great skill in getting all five in one game, but they also went through the whole tournament not conceding a goal. This solid defence was achieved with great teamwork between the girls and boys.”

He added: “Achieving first place now means the team, along with runners up Morton Trentside Primary, will travel to the Lincoln SSP finals to take on the very best teams in the area.”

Organiser Laura Wardle said: “All the pupils were very well behaved and really got into the spirit on the competition.”

Pupil Neve Rainsforth said: “Our team has trained really hard at lunch time and after school.”

She continued: “We are so excited to win and we just can’t wait to go to Lincoln to play again!”
