DO YOU have what it takes to be an on-call firefighter?

If so, then you could sign up and help your community as Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue is recruiting for on-call firefighters to cover the village of Saxilby, between Gainsborough and Lincoln - and is looking for recruits from the surrounding area.

A spokesman said: “On-call firefighters might be builders, shop assistants, farmers, plumbers, typists, factory workers, managers or parents at home.”

“Regardless of the job they do, they are self-reliant, confident, ready for anything and respected by the community.”

He continued: “If you are 18 and over, live or work within a five minute travelling time of one of the Saxilby community fire stations and have ever considered becoming a firefighter take a look at our On-Call Fire fighter recruitment guide you can also download an application form today.”

“We then assess candidates against the National Firefighter Selection Tests - assessing physical ability and fitness, working with numbers, situational awareness and problem solving, understanding information and personal qualities and attributes.”

Lincs Fire and Rescue received 98 incidents in Saxilby between April 2011 and April 2012. Drill nights are on Wednesdays. There were 494 calls received for Gainsborough during that period.

There is no minimum height requirement and no maximum age. Candidates will undergo a CRB check but will not be discriminated against for spent convictions.

You will need to complete the application that can be found at www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/lfr.

You can also apply by calling the recruitment department on 0800 3580 204.
