A SURPRISE landmark birthday party for one local lady saw Enid Mason celebrating turning 90 in style with a party put on by her huge family.

Enid Mason was born in Corringham but has lived in Gainsborough since she was one month old.

Since then, she’s had nine children, 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and even two great-great-grandchildren.

To mark her 90th birthday, the family got together to show their love with a big bash.

“It was so lovely,” said Enid. “They all came from all over the place which was so nice.”

“It was all a surprise for me - I didn’t know anything about it. They took me to the Ferry House and it was so wonderful to get there to see all of my family.”

“It was so nice and I really enjoyed myself. My family really treated me for my birthday.”

Enid’s son Steve Mason said that the family wanted to put on a very special day for a very special lady. It went very well indeed and it was so good to get everyone together,” he said.

“My mother is still a pretty active lady who gets around town and tinkers about in her garden. She loves her bingo and always has time for her big family.”

Steve added: “She’s seen an awful lot of changes take place around Gainsborough in her time, but she still loves it here.”
