A DEVASTATED family is appealing for information after their two pet cats are believed to have been poisoned.

The cats, named Stan and Olly, died last month near their home on Eastern Avenue in Gainsborough.

The family, who wish to remain anonymous, were left distraught by their pets’ demise.

One family member said: “We have two young children, and they were absolutely heartbroken when they found out.”

“It looks like they were poisoned - the vet said that was the most likely cause of death due to the symptoms and the way they came in.”

Stan and Olly were just 10 months old.

“They did everything together, so it’s not surprising that they fell ill at the same time.”

He added: “Some of the neighbours say that their cats have been ill as well, and we’d just like to make people aware of what’s going on.”

Lincolnshire Police spokesman James Newall said: “This a very serious incident and we would appeal for anyone with any information to please come forward to assist us with our enquiry.”

Anyone with information or who witnessed anything suspicious can contact Lincolnshire Police by calling 101 and quoting incident number 113 of 16th November.

Alternatively, you can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
