THE OCTOBER meeting of the Gainsborough and District Ladies Luncheon Club welcomed a special talk from Tony Cleaver.

Toast-master, flower arranger and former-school teacher Tony told of many hilarious memories of his life as a child during the hard times of the 1940s and stirred feelings of nostalgia from his listeners who also remembered things like tin baths and earth closets.

He also retold humourous and moving anecdotes of his school life and teaching career.
